Ministry of Natural Resources was established officially in 1965 the appointment of two (2) ministers responsible for the ministry.
After its restructuring into two (2) different functions, the ministry changed its name to Ministry of Development And Natural Resources.
In 1968, the ministry was renamed as Ministry of Natural Resources until 1971.
In 1972, in fact, all the functions related to natural resources, were incorporated under Ministry of Agriculture, Land And Minning until 1980. In line with the change, the name of the ministry was changed again to Ministry of Land And Mining since 1981 to 1985.
On 12th of July 1985, Ministry of Resource Planning come into existence with great collaboration between Ministry of Forestry and Ministry of Land And Mining to became one new ministry. With the collaboration of both ministry, the new ministry not only have wider scope of activity but also has strategic jurisdiction that is important to the state government.
On the 1st of January 1998, the Ministry of Resource Planning name has been changed to Ministry of Planning And Resource Management. On 30th September 2011 the ministry name was changed once again after cabinet reshuffle and renamed as Ministry of Resource Planning and Environment until today.
